The Fecava Sustainability Working Group is inviting veterinary professionals to a free online congress dedicated to sustainability in veterinary medicine on Wednesday 17 June from 14:00 to 19:00 CET. Designed for practitioners, managers and veterinary teams across Europe, the event will focus on practical ways to reduce the environmental footprint of veterinary medicine while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Practical topics for everyday veterinary work

The programme covers a broad range of clinical and management-related sustainability issues. Sessions will explore how to build greener veterinary practices, improve sustainability in operating theatres, evaluate carbon footprints in clinics and develop more sustainable management strategies. Other presentations will address sustainable parasite control, sustainability in veterinary laboratories and how small animal veterinarians can help prevent pentobarbital toxicosis and environmental contamination.

Sustainability as a professional responsibility

The congress will also highlight concrete initiatives already underway in many practices, such as recycling projects, and presentations from veterinary sustainability groups active across Europe.

Moderated by Stephan Neumann, Patricia Colville and Karin Hoogendijk, the event ‘aims to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange while positioning sustainability as a core value of modern veterinary practice,’ explains Ann Criel, Fecava President and UEVP Vice President. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required before 15 June.
