Vets from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will gather in Freiburg im Breisgau in Southwest Germany on 15–16 September 2026 for the DACH Economic Forum, a cross-border event dedicated to the business, leadership and future of veterinary practice. Organised by the German Veterinary Practitioners Association (bpt), the Swiss Veterinary Society (GST) and the Austrian Veterinary Chamber (ÖTK), the forum will provide practitioners with practical insights into the economic, organisational and strategic challenges facing the profession.
Business, wellbeing and sustainability
The programme features presentations on the latest FVE Vet Survey 2026 (Nancy De Briyne), workforce trends in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, artificial intelligence, practice ownership, communication, leadership and workplace culture. International speakers will explore how veterinary clinics can combine environmental sustainability with sound business practice, while sessions on clinician wellbeing, communication and learning from mistakes will offer practical guidance for everyday practice.
Cross-border perspectives and debate
One of the highlights will be a panel discussion asking whether modern veterinary practice in Europe has become too expensive, bringing together representatives from several European veterinary organisations (Netherlands, UK, Austria, Germany, Switzerland) to debate affordability and the future of veterinary services.
