EMA veterinary website

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has just revamped its webpage dedicated to animal health professionals, bringing key information and practical resources relevant to veterinarians and other animal health professionals all under one roof.

Pharmacovigilance, medicines database, AMR…

The updated page provides guidance on reporting suspected adverse events related to veterinary medicines, including how to report them and what happens after a report is submitted. It also provides access to the Veterinary Medicines Information website, with up-to-date information on authorised veterinary medicines, as well as resources on tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and responsible antimicrobial use in animals.

Online sales, events and webinars

Other featured topics include information on buying veterinary medicines online and data on pharmacovigilance and on veterinary medicines evaluated by EMA. The page furthermore highlights upcoming events and webinars organised with the FVE. The page also features information and campaign materials for Veterinary Medicine Safety Day (8 April) to promote the reporting of suspected adverse events in animals.

Access to European antimicrobial sales and uses database

Finally, the webpage provides access to the ESUAvet Power BI public dashboard, an interactive tool for exploring reported data on antimicrobial sales and use in animals across Europe – to ‘help identify trends and potential risk factors for antimicrobial resistance and support measures promoting prudent antimicrobial use.’

There are also links to a newsletter and ongoing consultations. See the website here.
