There’s a shortage of veterinary medicines, in particular for minor species and smaller markets. To find out what is lacking where, and for which species, the joint FVE/UEVP Medicines Working Group (MWG) has decided to draw up a comprehensive map of essential veterinary medicines across Europe. The initiative has started with a survey on medicines in sheep and goats, and the MWG now invites small ruminant vets from around Europe to participate.

Identifying therapeutic gaps

The survey aims to gain information on the most common and impactful diseases in small ruminants with respect to animal health, welfare, public health and economic impact in your country, to investigate possible therapeutic gaps and shortages, and to identify essential medicines that practitioners in the field of small ruminants could not live without.

Calling veterinary experts in sheep and goats

FVE calls upon all practitioners to take the short survey for input from the field regarding the use of medicines for sheep and goats. Please participate by 30 June 2025. Data will be handled anonymously and in line with the EU GDPR rules. If you are or you know a small ruminant expert in your country who would be interested to join us, please contact Marine Delsaute (marine@fve.org).
