On 7 April 2025, the European Commission published an implementing act concerning emergency measures in relation to new outbreaks of sheep pox and goat pox in Greece.
The following measures have been established:
- In Greece, protection and surveillance measures are in effect in regional units of Rhodopi and Magnesia, as well as on the island of Samothrace in the regional unit of Evros.
In addition to the emergency measures in these regions, the prohibition on the movements of sheep and goats from the entire territory of Greece to a destination located outside Greece has been prolongated until 30 September 2025, in order to avoid the spread of the disease to the rest of the Union or to third countries.
