On 7 April 2025, the European Commission adopted an implementing act introducing special control measures in response to new outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF).
The following regions have notified outbreaks:
- in the State of Hessen in Germany,
- in the Serres region in Greece,
- in the Emilia Romagna region in Italy,
- in the Pomorskie region in Poland.
Germany, Greece, Italy and Poland have taken the necessary measures to combat the disease, including the establishment of protection and surveillance zones around the affected areas.
