Which species should be allowed as pets? A research project led by the Animal Protection Agency (APA) and Animal Advocacy and Protection (AAP) aims to gather evidence on how these lists work in practice. It has set up a survey to gain veterinary views on 'positive list' Regulations to see how they impact animal welfare across Europe. Your insights will help inform any EU-wide policy decisions.

Share your expertise

By sharing your expertise on the feasibility and effectiveness of these positive lists, you will help prevent the trade of unsuitable species. For the purposes of the survey, ‘exotic pets’ include all invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, all birds (except poultry, waterfowl and pigeons) and all mammals (except dogs, cats, ferrets and other common pet mammals, and farmed species kept as pets such as sheep, pigs and goats).

The survey is open until Friday 5 June.
