Vets in many European countries face a critical lack of therapeutic options, particularly for so-called minor uses and minor species such as ducks and geese. Some medicines are authorised and on the market in other Member States, while others are lacking altogether. These gaps directly impact animal health, welfare, veterinary public health and farmer income.
Please take the survey
To address this, the FVE/UEVP Medicines Working Group is mapping the gaps and needs regarding veterinary medicines across Europe. Following the recent publication of the Compass for small ruminants, the FVE/UEVP MWG is now focusing on waterfowl. Veterinarians working with ducks and geese are invited to share their insights on the main waterfowl diseases and therapeutic gaps and shortages. Take the survey here.
A call for waterfowl experts
Furthermore, a dedicated ducks and geese expert task force will be set up to help prioritise therapeutic gaps and unmet needs across Europe. If you are a waterfowl expert and want to help, please leave your contact details at the end of the survey or contact Wiebke at the FVE Office in case of questions.
