On 23th January 2025, the European Commission published an implementing act concerning measures related to African Swine Fever.  

In December 2024 and January 2025, several outbreaks of African swine fever were observed in feral pigs, resulting in an increase risk level ( regulatory Zone II/Zone III) in the following regions: 

  • Eastern Macedonia and Thrace regions in Greece; 
  • Emilia-Romagna region in Italy ; 
  • Panevėžys region in Lithuania 
  • Mazowieckie, Pomorskie, and Zachodniopomorskie regions in Poland ; 
  • Trenčiansky and Nitriansky counties in Slovakia. 

Conversely, due to the effectiveness of control measures against African swine fever within regulated areas, the following regions are expected to experience a reduction in risk level (Regulatory Zones I/II):

  • Valka county in Latvia; 
  • Alytus county in Lithuania;
  • Lazio region in Italy;
  • Banskobystrický county in Slovakia.
