The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is inviting veterinary practitioners to share their clinical experience of using oral antimicrobials containing amoxicillin for respiratory infections in pigs. The anonymous survey is part of the Dosage Review and Adjustment of Established Veterinary Antibiotics (ADRA) pilot project. Its aim is to ‘better understand current clinical practice regarding the use of orally administered amoxicillin’ and to support the review and potential updating of recommended dosage and treatment durations.
What the survey covers
The questionnaire focuses on dosing practices for both treatment and metaphylaxis, including the use of medicated drinking water or feed. Vets are also asked which respiratory pathogens they target and whether they have observed treatment failures that could be linked to inadequate dosing, duration or frequency. Both pig veterinarians and those treating pigs in mixed practice are encouraged to participate. The survey is anonymous and should take only a few minutes to complete. Deadline: 11 September 2026
