On 14 April 2025, the European Commission published two implementing acts (here and here) concerning emergency measures in relation to infection with peste des petits ruminants virus in Bulgaria and Romania.
The following measures have been established :
- In Romania, protection and surveillance measures are in effect in Bihor County.
- In Bulgaria, until the 31 December 2025, protection measures are in effect in the Pazardzhik region. Surveillance measures are in effect in the Pazardzhik, Blagoevgrad, Smolyan and Sofia oblast regions.
In addition, the prohibition of movements of ovine and caprine animals from the entire territories of Romania and Bulgaria to other Member States is prolongated until 30 September 2025.
