It’s official! The news app of the Union of European Veterinary Practitioners has been launched this month on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the UEVP. (If you're reading this on the app, please share the news with a colleague!)

Sharing news with vets in the field

‘Aim of the app is to provide European veterinary practitioners with easily accessible, relevant information from anywhere in veterinary Europe,’ explains Volker Moser, UEVP President. ‘We’re very proud of this app which also allows informing our colleagues in the field about what the UEVP is doing on behalf of the profession at a European level.’

A generational approach

‘We took a generational approach on how to share information directly and reach the practitioners and other vets out there,’ confirms Ann Criel, UEVP board member and one of the driving forces behind the communication project. ‘Young people read their news on their tablet or smartphone apps, and we need to adjust. It’s also easier to share.’

A share button to help spread information

‘The app is easy and free to download, and is available anywhere, for anyone with a smartphone, both for Android and iOS systems,’ adds Giovanni Guadagnini, UEVP board member. He’s the other pillar of the communication project, and liaises with the app’s technical team. ‘Each post has a share button at the top right of the screen so that any information can be spread quickly.’

Vets and associations invited to submit

Content from the app is also linked to the news section of the UEVP website. ‘UEVP member associations and individual vets are invited to submit important information so we can share it with our colleagues via the app,’ Giovanni adds. The app makes it ‘easy to reach vets directly, without the need for re-posting by the national member associations.’
