A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed ‘to further develop and maintain a global veterinary education establishments (VEE) Index’, a publicly accessible worldwide database of institutions offering veterinary education. The MoU was signed by the World Veterinary Association (WVA), the International Veterinary Students’ Association (IVSA) and Neil Vezeau, project leader.
Aggregating existing regional and national lists
Neil Vezeau is a US food safety veterinarian who has previously maintained a list of veterinary education establishments, and who will aggregate existing regional and national lists into a single, transparent global database. Soon to be hosted on the WVA website, the VEE Index will provide key information on veterinary institutions, including official names, locations, contact details and accreditation status where available.
Vet student volunteers to help collect data
Data collection and verification will be carried out by a global network of volunteers coordinated by WVA and IVSA, ensuring regional representation and high data quality. The MoU is effective for an initial four-year period, with both organisations committed to the long-term maintenance and periodic review of the index.
